About the Project
The engineers of Mesiti-Miller Engineering, Inc. (Santa Cruz, Calif.) were asked a simple goal: help art imitate life. The project, a 42-foot high stainless steel sculpture entitled Hulls, was made possible with the help of RISA-3D. The primary objective was to analyze and design the sculpture for the inherent wind and seismic loads, while minimizing the diameter of the stainless steel pipe members to retain the sculptures slenderness and translucency.
