We created hundreds of geometry defining points that are then easily imported into RISA-3D. With that starting point, the structure is easily defined using RISA-3Ds graphical interface. It (RISA-3D) easily handled everything from concrete slabs to curved steel beams.
About the project: The exterior of the $24-million performing arts center showcases Frank Gehry’s renowned metal “skin” design. Supporting the curves are custom-built steel members spaced at 10-foot increments. RISA-3D played an integral role in the analysis and design requirements of the project. It was used to design the back-of-the-house steel structure as well as the curved steel members and the bracing system that support the metal exterior enclosures.
