Common support and usage questions.
There are a few common mistakes people make when attempting to access RISA Section files in RISA 3D:
You are most likely using a custom anchor bolt layout. Custom layouts allow you flexibility in modeling your anchor bolts, however ACI does not give any instruction on how to handle group pullout of anchors that are not arranged in a grid pattern, therefore we have no way to check group behavior.
Carefully review your specified minimum spacings in the Anchor Bolts dialog (including both Min AB to Col spacing and Min AB to edge spacing). Also, if you are using custom anchor bolts, try sketching out your layout to ensure that none of the bolts fall off of the plate or on top of the column.
RISABase analyzes the baseplate using finite element analysis. The program assumes that the plate is free to bend out-of-plane and this bending causes a redistribution of forces on the pedestal. Most baseplate hand calculations assume that the plate is rigid. If you would like to use this assumption, you can choose to Force Base Plate to be Rigid in the Base Plate dialog.
The effective embedment length is taken as the difference between Total AB Length and Projected AB Length, both of which are defined in the Anchor Bolts dialog.
