RISA-3D was used in a new television show called In The Name of Science, a reality-based program premiering on the Discovery Channel. A team of experts used the RISA-3D software to help them build a trebuchet—a medieval catapult that can hurl gasoline-filled pianos a distance of 500 feet. The software helped the show’s engineers to create a structural model for the 40-foot tall, 35,000-pound structure. Tune in July 29 at 7 p.m. to see just how far pianos can fly.
